5.0 Amazing tour with Marcio This was an excellent tour with Marcio. The region is spectacular. Marcio was an amazing tour guide. He made sure we were having a great time. Marcio is extremely knowledgable about the area and the Portugease wines. He was very flexible and adjusted the itinerarey to accomodate a boat tour. He took us to more quiet, local, authentic places. Overall it was an unforgetful day. We were so happy with Marcios hospitality that we asked him to take us for another tour. 5.0 Exceptional Stress-free Douro Wine Tour This tour was definitely a highlight of our trip to Porto. Communication with Márcio was great; we knew exactly what to expect beforehand. He picked us up from our hotel, and on the drive to the Douro valley, after treating us to cappuccinos, Márcio shared his extensive knowledge of Portuguese wine, food, and culture. Here’s where it pays to book a private tour— the drive up to the first winery we visited was up a windy, steep drive that could not be made by a larger sized tour group. The view and staff of this small winery were spectacular, and the wine was even better. We were kicking ourselves afterward for only purchasing one bottle. My husband and I had our own private tasting table in front of the window, apart from a tour group, and we were given higher-end and additional wines to taste. We were very well tended to at the second winery we visited as well. We made several other stops in various nearby towns that added to the the local experience. Márcio genuinely ensured we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves the whole day. This tour was authentic, did not feel the least bit touristy, and would not have been the same without Márcio. As a side note, I am a vegetarian, and Márcio ensured that I had ample food options at each stop. - 6/09/2024
